Jim Belushi & Co. – Skokie, IL.

While it may come as a surprise to some, I believe at this point even the most casual fans of Jim Belushi are aware that Jim in recent years has become a cannabis farmer in the Rogue Valley area of Oregon.  Jim deeply believes in the spiritual and medicinal benefits that cannabis offers and has made it his mission to evangelize the healing power of marijuana.

To Jim it’s not about the high (although that certainly is an added bonus).  Its about helping those that are in pain, whether it is a physical ailment or psychological.

One of the signature brands of Belushi Farms is quite naturally The Blues Brothers.  Why you ask?  Because Music satisfies us in not just a physical and sensory way but also in a spiritual and psychic way, just like cannabis.

Belushi Farms states “The promise of the Blues Brothers brand for cannabis is just that: to deliver the best possible stimuli to our endo-cannabinoid receptors.” and “We will live up to the ten star, quadruple A reputation for professionalism and consumer satisfaction that John and Dan established internationally over four decades ago.”

Belushi Farms partnered with Grassroots Dispensaries to carry The Blues Brothers branded cannabis products.  To mark the grand opening of Grassroots newest dispensary in Skokie, IL on September 3rd, Jim wanted to introduce The Blues Brothers brand to Illinois consumers personally.  In The Chicago Bluesmobile!

I was very excited when Jim’s people reached out to my people to set up this event.  Due to the pandemic this year, I have done zero events, and it was very nice to feel even for a moment that things were kind of normal.

We practiced strict social distancing.  The Chicago Bluesmobile was wiped down prior to anyone else getting in, and we had a blast! Enjoy the pics.

Custom Blues Brothers masks for Jim and his guests.
Lines were starting early for the grand opening!

I almost thought I walked into a doctors office.
A Greenhouse representative holding my Elwood J. Blues attache case with leg irons for Jim to use to bring in his “product”.
Jim and team practicing their entrance.
Figuring out how to open the trunk.

Starting to feel like we are in a Quentin Tarantino movie.

Jim found the bullwhip and accidentally cracked himself on the forehead.
Almost showtime!
Jim was very gracious to sign my dashboard on such an important day for him!
Trial run so Jim could get a feel for the car.
Trial run continued.
I think he’s on his way back to the dispensary?
Cracked a U-Turn, yep he’s coming back.
You better step on it, you’re going to be late for your gig.
Finally hitting the parking lot.

Exiting the Bluesmobile like a true Blues Brother.
Getting the stash…

The crowd went crazy for Jim and crew.

Originally we parked in a very prominent spot for Jim to greet fans.

Unfortunately some construction workers that were not pleased with the company that built the dispensary decided to make some noise. Jim stopped what he was doing to try and talk to them, even though he doesn’t have anything to do with the actual dispensary other that the licensing agreement.
It was decided to move Jim and the Bluesmobile to the center of the parking lot after one of the construction workers decided to get personal and say some not so nice things about his brother John.

This was absolutely one of the big highlights of 2020 for me.  The event had a great turnout and I was very happy the be able to provide The Chicago Bluesmobile for Jim’s use.  I think it totally made the event!!!!

And finally, watch Jim make quite the entrance to the event!
